Women's ankle socks Mandala / Naisten Mandala nilkkasukka

 

Mandalasukat ovat yhdet ensimmäisistä suunnittelemistani sukista ja tänä kesänä neuloin niistä itselleni kesäsukkia vihreinä ja valkoisina. Malli on tismalleen sama, mutta varresta tein vain lyhyemmät. 

Mandala socks are one of the first sock pattern I have ever designed and actually made a digital pattern. I released them in Autumn originally. but this summer, I designed to make myself summer socks with this pattern - yes, we use woolly socks in the summer time in Finland also. The pattern is exactly the same, but the leg is just shorter.

Uudet kesäsukat ansaitsivat myös uuden kuvausreissun - mikä parempi tekosyy lähteä etsimään uusia paikkoja luonnosta. Päädyimme Oulun lähelle Hailuotoon Sunikarin venesatamaan. Ihana rauhallinen ranta, jossa koiratkin saavat uida.

New summer socks deserved a new photograph session, of course. Is there a better reason for exploring new places. We ended up in Hailuoto Island near Oulu to a new beck. It was a beautiful and not so busy beach - also dogs could swim there.

Alunperin malli on neulottu ruskanväreissä ja ja kirjoitettukin syyssukat mielessä. Nyt piti nimestäkin jättää syksy pois, sillä nämä ovat mitä parhaat myös kesäsukkina. Näissä sukissa ei tarvitse neulata kärkeä vaan viimeiset silmukat suljetaan läpivetämällä. Kaksiväriseen lehtikuvioon on helposti seurattava kaavio. Tömä on mukava ja suhteellisen nopea välityö vaikka matkaneuleeksi.

So, originally this pattern was designed with autumn colours in mind. Now, with these new pictures I even left the Autumn out of the name as this is actually a very appropriate pattern for summer as well. The toe is kitchener-free so it is a seamless round toe. The Leaf motif is simple two colour pattern and has a chart that is incredible easy to follow. This is a nice, light and relatively easy and quick side knit or great for travel-knit.

Uudet kuvat piti tottakai saada myös ohjeeseen mukaan, joten päivitin senkin. Uudistettu ohje lähtee tottakai kaikille sen jo ostaneille ja on nyt myös ladattavissa Ravelrystä uudistetuin kuvin.

Well, with a new name and new photographs, I needed to update the written pattern as well. I will of course sent the new version of the patterns to those who have purchased the pattern originally. Maybe they want to knit summer socks as well. Now this new version of the digital pattern is available in my Ravelry shop as well.

Tämä malli sopii jonkin verran neuloneella aloittelijallekin tai mukavaksi sivutyöksi vaikka matkalle kokeneemmalle neulojalle. Tässä ohjeessa ei tarvita kärjen saumaamista neulalla erikseen  ja ohje on helposti luettava. Ohjeesta löytyy kaaviot varteen ja kuvioon. Mallissa on muutamia muunnosvaihtoehtoja ja useita kokoja. (36-37/38-39/40-41 EU)

This is a pattern for advanced beginner or a nice little travel or side project for more advanced knitter. This pattern has a kitchener-free toe and the instructions are easy to read written pattern with charts for rib and colour work. There are some modification options and many sizes (3,5-4/5-6/6.5-7 UK) (6-6,5/7,5-8,5/9-9,5 US women's)

Kerroksittainen lehtikuvio sopii niin kesään kuin syksyynkin ja DK vahvuisissa sukkalangoissa on mielettömiä värivaihtoehtoja. Itse ihastuin tuohon Novitan Nalle langan väriin puuvilla. 

Näissä sukissa olen käyttänyt Novitan Nalle lankaa värissä puuvilla ja Viking Garn Alpacka storm lankaa vihreänä ja valkoisena. Alkuperäiset sukat on tehty Lankavan Mainio langoilla päävärinä Curry. Langan voi hyvin korvata millä tahansa saman vahvuisella sukkalangalla, joita löytyy paljon. Itse neuvoisin valitsemaan konepestävän sukkalangan, jos sukkia pidetään paljon kuten meillä.

The layered leaf pattern suits summer as well as the autumn and there are some many beautiful and inviting colour choices in DK weight yarns. I really liked the cotton coloured Novita yarn for summer.

There are so many yarn choices for DK weight yarn. I chose Novita Nalle in cotton colour and for the green socks I used Viking Garn Alpacka storm which is a softer yarn. The original socks were knit with Lankava Mainio. I used these because they were easy to find in the colours I wanted. Good yarn for this pattern in UK would be e.g. ColourLab Sock DK  or Bo Peep Luxury Baby DK (West Yorkshire Spinners). US you could easily find Knit Picks Stroll DK or Cascade Yarn Heritage DK. Just to give you few options.

Näiden sukkien varsi on pitsimäinen ja yllättävän yksinkertainen. Sukka istuu ja pysyy jalassa kuitenkin hyvin, sillä kantalappu on tarpeeksi korkea ja napakka. Toki tilalle voi aina neuloa yksinkertaisenkin kantapään, mutta tässä mallissa ihan syystä napakka vahvistettu kantapää.

The leg is lacy in this pattern, but it holds very well in place with sturdy and long enough heel flap. This pattern has this sturdy and supportive reinforced heel flap for a reason. 

The leg is lacy in this pattern but it fits and keeps in place very well because of the high enough heel flap.  You can of course modify and make a simple heel, but this reinforced heel helps the fit. The lacy leg is a very simple pattern. Socks are an easy knit for your self or a good for gifting.
