Halusin suunnitella syksyiset sukat ihanasta Lankavan Curryn värisestä langasta. Halusin siihen selkeän kuvion ja kuvioon syksyn lehtiä. Syksy on kiireistä aikaa työ- ja harrastuspiireissä - ihanaa, mutta kiireistä. Metsäretket ovat ihania viikonloppujen rauhoittumishetkiä. Siitä tuli mieleen Mandala kuviot ja niiden väritys ja piirtäminen. Sitten piti jotenkin yhdistää ne sukkaan, jollaista itse haluaisi pitää.
I wanted to design Autumn inspired socks from the beautiful Curry-colored yarn I had. I wanted clear pattern and Autumn leaves. Autumn is busy time at work and hobbies in a family with kids and pets - interesting, wonderful, but busy time. Little hikes in the nature, picking berries and mushrooms are great ways get some piece and quiet. That got me thinking about Mandala patterns and drawing and coloring them. Then I just needed to combine all of that in to the design.
Syksyiset värit ovat kerrassaan ihania. Oranssit, keltaiset, punaiset ja hitunen havupuiden vihreää. Tämä sukka malli toimisi varmasti missä tahansa noista väreistä. Voisi toimia ihanasti lapasissakin - siinäpä idea!
The colors of Autumn are just wonderful. The oranges, yellows, reds and just a hint of green. This pattern would work surely in any of those colors. Might work in mittens too - there is an idea!
Tuuli on jo kylmä ja yöllä käy pakkanen puraisemassa. Villasukat tarvitaan, mutta ei vielä kaikkein paksuimmat. DK vahvuinen lanka on ihana! Tarpeeksi lämmin ja tarpeeksi ohut syksyn sukkiin.
The wind is already cold here and at night there are some frost after the nights. Wool socks are definitely needed already in October. DK weight yarn is perfect for this season. Warm enough and thin enough for autumn socks.
Inspiraationi lähtee usein luonnosta ja omasta tarpeesta. Niin tälläkin kertaa. Olen kokeillut ja etsinyt uusia resorimalleja. Näissä sukissa on ihana kevyt resorivarsi. Sukat istuvat hyvin jalkaan ja pysyvät, kun niihin tekee tarpeeksi korkean kantalapun.
My designs are inspired by the nature around me and from the needs of our the everyday life here. That is true also this time around. I have searched for and learned many new cuff patterns, combined and simplified what I have found. These socks have light cuff leg. The socks fit well and stay as they are meant to - the secret is long enough heel flap.
Valkoinen ja harmaa tuovat ruskan värit hyvin esille. Näihin sukkiin valitsin valkoisen, jotta kontrasti olisi isompi yksinkertaisessa kuviossa. Kuviossa toimisi harmaakin, mutta kuviosta tulisi utuisempi - kaunis niinkin.
Whites and grays emphasize the autumn colors. I chose white for this pattern to make the contrast stronger as the pattern is relatively simple. Light grey would work fine here as well - it would just create more dusty feel to them - beautiful as well.
