New Pattern coming up soon: Gingerbread socks - Piparkakkusukat Uusi ohje tulossa pian

Piparkakkusukkien inspiraatio lähti piparkakuista - Joulujen ikisuosikista. Pohjaväri on piparkakun ruskea ja kuvioväri valkoinen kuin pikeeri. Läpi koko kuvion valkoinen on dominoiva väri eli lankadominanssissa lähempänä puikkoa.

The idea of gingerbread socks comes from the gingerbread we bake and decorate every Christmas - Our forever favorite. The base color is gingerbread brown, of course, and the pattern is white like the sugar piping and snow. The white is dominating color through out the pattern meaning that it is the closest to the knitting in yarn dominance. 

Resorin piti mielestäni synkata ensimmäiseen kuvioon ja olla siis kuudella jaollinen. Ja sen piti mielestäni näyttää pikeeriltä. Ehkä onnistuin. Kuvioon halusin ehdottomasti piparkakkutalon ristikkoa, lumisia kuusia, revontulia ja pieniä tähtiä, kaikkea mitä joulunaika on täällä Pohjois-Suomessa.

The cuff needed to match the first pattern and be divided by six, and and it needed to look like the fancy sugar piping I attempt every year. I am happy with this cuff pattern. I knew I wanted the nice crisscross of a gingerbread roof, the snowy spruces, northern lights and small stars. Everything that describes the Christmas time here in northern Finland.

Suunnittelemiini kuusiin olen erityisen tyytyväinen.

Piparkakkusukkien idea on saada kolme kokoa vaihtamalla puikkojen tai langan paksuutta. Koot ovat S(37), M (38/39) ja L (40-42). Samalla pohkeenympärys muuttuu koon mukaan. Halutessasi kapeapohkeisen, mutta pitkän ja kapean terän voit valita S koon varren, mutta jatkaa terää. Halutessasi leveäpohkeisen, mutta lyhytteräisen sukan, voit tehdä L koon varren ja lyhentää terän ohjeen mukaan eli aloittaa terän kavennukset, kun pikkuvarvas peittyy. Helposti muokattava siis.

The twist in this pattern is changing the size by changing the needle size and the yarn to get different gauge. The color pattern is the same in three different sizes, but size Small, Medium, Large have either different yarn or different needle size. The negative tension in the knit needs to be considered when choosing the size.
