Strýta eli vuorenhuippu-neule pojalle - Stryta for my teenage son

 

Strýta on Lankavan kaunis Islantilaisneule malli. Malli löytyy Islantilaisia neuleita -kirjasta ja on suunniteltu paksulle Alafosslopi-langalle. Teini valitsi itse haluamansa mallin ja juuri ohjeen väreissä, mutta ohuemmalla langalla tehtynä.

Stýta is a beautiful Islandic sweater pattern by Lankava. The pattern is found from the book Islantilaisia neuleita (Islandic knitwear) and is designed to a quite thick Alafosslopi yarn. My teenager chose the pattern himself and wanted it in exactly the same colors, but a bit thinner. 

Tämä oli hieman vaikeampi työ tehdä kuin Riddari tai Alasuq. Nimenomaan siksi, että se on suunniteltu paksummalle Alafossopi langalle. Lähdin kutomaan mallista kokoa xs ja muokkasin matkalla Riddarin silmukkamääriin S koon mukaan. Puikkoja vaihtamalla sain tiheyden melko kohdilleen. Kuvio ja kaarrokkeen lisäykset vaativatkin muutaman purkukerran ennen kuin osuivat hyvin kohdilleen. Lopputuloksena Stytasta tuli kapeahko koko M, mikä sopi teinipojalle erittäin hyvin.

This was a bit harder pattern to work on - harder that Riddari-pattern or Alasuq-pattern I posted earlier. It was hard particularly because is designed for thicker yarn. I begin to knit the size extra small color pattern, a bit smaller that needed, and continued to modify the pattern according to the gauge of the Riddari pattern size small. Changing the needle size from the original to the Riddari recommendation, I matched the gauge pretty good. The color pattern on the yoke and matching the increases required a few rounds of re-knitting before they lined up nicely.

In the end I am very satisfied with the end result. This Strýta is the size medium in length, but size small in width - perfect for a teenager.

The most important thing is that he is happy with it, and has used it many times since.
